2 Sisters + Fingerpainting Past Kindergarten = A New Cool Painting!

Today, my mother and I went to our local craft store to pick up some summer camp supplies, as she is a montessori teacher. I got a phone call from my sister, and she asked me to pick up some fingerpaint to try something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Our original idea was to get non-toxic, washable paint that we could use on my dog’s paw and create something cool using her tiny paw prints. (Don’t worry, today was bath day and we washed the paint right off) As soon as I got home with the paint, we gathered our supplies and went outside to try our project. We tried, but unfortunately the consistency of the paint wasn’t making the prints look defined…it just looked like a blob of paint on the canvas. After a few more attempts, we gave up…washed Tuffee and sat outside in the patio staring at the fingerpaints. At almost the same time, we both just stuck our fingers in a jar of the color we wanted to use and just started making little designs and mixing the different colors of paint together. Before we knew it, the whole canvas was covered with paint and it was a lot of fun! No planning, no preparation or research…it just came natural and it felt great! It turned out to be beautiful and it felt good to use fingerpaint after so many years!
Here is the final painting!
The textures were really nice…however as it is drying the areas where the paint was thick to create the texture has been absorbed by the canvas and the colors are a bit darker in my observation…but it still looks great! I will be sure to take a photo of it when it completely dries and post it.
Tell me what you think of our piece 🙂
